Abstract:

Sustainable development has become increasingly influential in diverse disciplines, including anthropology. Anthropology, as a field that examines human societies and cultures, is essential for comprehending the intricacies of sustainable development, especially in relation to aesthetic labour. Aesthetic labour refers to tasks and activities that produce and alter aesthetic encounters, including art, design, fashion, and entertainment. This paper examines the overlap between anthropological knowledge and sustainable development within the field of aesthetic labour. It focuses on the specific challenges and opportunities that arise in this context. Anthropology significantly contributes to sustainable development among aesthetic laborers by highlighting the value of cultural diversity and the significance of local knowledge and practices. By examining these cultural subtleties, anthropologists contribute to sustainable development initiatives' cultural sensitivity and inclusivity. They consider the viewpoints and requirements of aesthetic laborers in various cultural contexts. It explores the intricacies of work dynamics, artistic methods, and working conditions in the field of aesthetics through ethnographic research and direct interaction with aesthetic laborers. We can use this information to shape policies and procedures that promote equitable labour practices, protect workers' rights, and foster long-term sustainable growth in the industry.
