Abstract:
Wolf has always been a constant danger to the nomads and herders of the Mongolian and Siberian regions. For this reason, the domestication of the dog can be interpreted as a crucial aspect of the success of pastoralism in various regions in ancient times. In fact, dogs are most often used to defend camps and animals from this fearsome predator. Dogs are part of the family life of their masters but they are also a link with the world of the wolves. Nomads, dogs and wolves form a "triangle" reflecting their ecological and cultural adaptations. Based on the author's observations over more than twenty years, this article discusses these relationships.
