Abstract:
Tuberculosis also known as the disease that is dreaded by many is caused by bacterial infection in the lungs. Known for spreading through air particles dispersed a few meters in the air and its seepage through a person with low immune system is well known too. According to the WHO (World Health Organization), India has the world's largest Tuberculosis epidemic.
This research has been carried out in Ziro, Arunachal Pradesh taking into account the homogeneous population, settlement, climate, public point of view on epidemiology as a whole and TB in particular. Further, the involvement of TB Unit, health care workers, stakeholders etc. in implementation of NTEP guidelines and activities has also been taken into account and the impact of participant observation plus the involvement of researcher, it's impact on Awareness, community involvement etc. will be highlighted in the paper. Treatment rate and cure rate being improved shows that the activities carried out by the TB Unit in Ziro is worth mentioning too.
This paper also will discuss the stigma observed during research in the mentioned Community and steps that can be initiated to overcome this stigma including other challenges for both the TB unit staff and the researcher during carrying out this study.
