Abstract:

Informal caregivers are critical in caring for elderly individuals, often within familial or close social circles. Their contributions are invaluable in supporting the aging population, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being as they navigate the challenges of later life. This paper will define informal caregivers, explore their pivotal role in caregiving dynamics, and highlight the significance of their contributions to society. The role of informal caregivers is indispensable in addressing the complex needs of the aging population and promoting their autonomy, dignity, and quality of life. In essence, informal caregivers serve as the backbone of the caregiving infrastructure, providing essential care and support that contributes to the health, well-being, and dignity of elderly individuals. Recognizing and supporting the efforts of informal caregivers is paramount in building sustainable and compassionate systems of care for an aging population. Addressing the challenges caregivers face in maintaining equilibrium is essential in fostering their well-being and resilience amidst the demands of caregiving. The caregiving journey can be fraught with obstacles, especially when caregivers need more support and resources. In conclusion, advocating for policy initiatives that support informal caregivers, improving coordination of healthcare and social services, and raising awareness about caregiver challenges are essential steps toward building a more supportive and inclusive caregiving infrastructure.
