Today, several monuments dedicated to marmots have been erected in Mongolia and southern Siberia. In this paper, we tried to consider in more detail a very remarkable way of hunting tarbagans that existed in Mongolia at least until the 60s XX century, various recipes for cooking dishes from tarbagan, as well as legends, signs and traditions associated with this small animal, which occupies a prominent place in the culture of the Mongolian peoples.
