Abstract:
Curating has evolved into a prominent concept in anthropology, where the roles of curator and anthropologist can intersect productively. Museums serve as collaborative spaces for anthropologists and artists to co-produce knowledge, presenting decolonial narratives to broader audiences than academic channels allow. This approach challenges entrenched power dynamics and historical biases within museum narratives. The speaker will present on exhibitions she did at different museums in the past years and will share experiences from collaborations with a variety of artists such as painter Amna Elhassan and political cartoonist Khalid Wad Albeih.
