Narratives of rural youngs, childrens and adolescents around education. An Ethnography on the Margins of the State

From the Anthropology of educational processes in a rural territory in the Gulf of Mexico region, during 2018 and 2019, the discourses and practices around the meaning of school and the protracted school trajectories in young people, children and adolescents are detailed. In the first part of this article, based on Dan and Poole (2008), the territory studied is conceptually and situated within the margins of the mexican State. Subsequently, the methodological way of the ethnographic research carried out is detailed, participant observation is described the type of interviews conducted and the focus groups carried out with children and adolescents. In the part of results, we reflect on: The paradox of education and the perspective of the “minors”, here their daily school life is detailed the sense and meaning and inquire into the causes of schools dropouts; 2. Being young in the context of the transformations of the rural space, which tells how school life is intertwined with agricultural dynamics. In addition, the emergence of university women in the locality and the participation of young people in family dynamic is reflected in family dynamics. Finally, it is concluded that, reflecting on the failure of education, neoliberal politics and local cultural meanings contribute to keeping minors precarious, who are immersed in a life cycle that continues to replicate.
