Ethnobotany is the study of the relationship between plants and people. It is an interdisciplinary

houses, medicines, rituals, and beliefs. The present study focuses on the influence of
ethnobotanical plants on the life of the Paniya community in Wayanad district. Wayanad is a
district home to many tribal communities. The Paniya are the most common tribal group
inhabiting Wayanad. They have more knowledge of ethnobotanical plants. The research carried
on the usage of ethnobotanical plants in medicine, food, industries, rituals, and cultural myths.
The study was done using different methods like interviewing, narrating, and taxonomic
identification of plants. The study found that the Paniya community uses many plants in their
daily life for food, fodder, medicine, and religious ceremonies. The plant species used in food are
highly nutritious, and many plant species have high medicinal potential. The plants are also part
of their culture and beliefs.
