Abstract:
Horizontes Antropológicos, a journal founded in 1995 by the Graduate Program in Social Anthropology of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (Porto Alegre, Brazil) has already published over 70 issues. It is among the 100 most cited journals published in Portuguese and the most cited Brazilian journal of Anthropology. It features articles in Portuguese, Spanish, English and French. It distinguished itself from other journals by publishing issues that are thematic and are edited by one or more coordinators. Among the themes of journal are Consumption, Food, Modern Cities, Ethnographies of the Digital, Gender and Sexuality, Reproductive Governance, Covid-19, Biosecurity, Sports, International Circulation, World Anthropologies, and Whiteness. Each number has an “Essay on the Theme,” in which the organizers develop the “state of the art” of the theme under consideration. The journal also has a section called “Open Space,” in which cutting edge articles on trending topics are published. The issues have an artistic cover that reproduces classical and modern paintings. Horizontes Antropológicos is an open access journal and does not charge any fee from its authors.
