Abstract:

Bimosuni music has been sung by the Yi people in southwest China since ancient times with its unique form of singing. It is a vocal expression of chanting, cultivating and realizing magic power in the process of Yi religion and witchcraft worship. It has the musical power and characteristics of praising ancestors, soothing sentient beings or subduing demons. Based on the method of musical anthropology and the interpretation of the sutra, this paper analyzes the characteristics of Yi People's religious and witch sacrifice music from the perspective of the subject, using the musical materials and related sutra resources collected and accumulated over the years, from the perspective of the object, this paper makes a preliminary analysis of the properties, distribution, structure, level, content and narration of the music of the Bimosini Scrolls in Yi people, China, to identify the basic principles, functions and main points of the two types of music.
