Abstract:
The flipped classroom is becoming increasingly popular in physical education. Consequently, educators are facing several challenges as they adopt this approach, including explaining its benefits, managing class time effectively, and assessing its impact on learning. This study examines key concepts that underpin the flipped model and demonstrates how these theories can be applied in key areas: pre-class, in-class, post-class activities, as well as assessing student learning. The flipped classroom has become increasingly prominent recently, marking a transition from teacher-centered to student-centered teaching methods. This educational approach offers versatility and adaptability, with various techniques for pre-class work, in-class activities, post-class exercises, and assessments. Shifting fundamental course content outside of class frees up time for more interactive learning experiences, which cannot be achieved solely through reading. The emergence of the flipped classroom as a significant advancement in education is undeniable. Yet, whether it will dominate physical education in the future remains uncertain. It's essential to continue developing and evaluating flipped models to maximize outcomes and maintain their flexibility, applicability, and significance. Research into various aspects such as cost-effectiveness, development of non-cognitive skills (like teamwork, empathy, communication, and adaptability), best strategies and methods, design of learning spaces, long-term effects, and faculty training could further enhance the impact and effectiveness of the flipped classroom.
