Abstract:

The Yi people use poetic language to express their understanding and perception of nature, time, the universe, and space. They have rich knowledge of astronomy and calendar, recorded in Yi language classics and poetry, including "Cosmic Humanities", "Cosmic Life and Change", "Southwest Yi Chronicles", "Meige", "Cham", and so on. Astronomical calendar knowledge includes the 28 constellations, 24 solar terms, and the famous Ten-month solar calendar. This poetic expression has similarities with the understanding of other ethnic groups in the world. This article studies the 28 constellations and 24 solar terms in Yi poetry, revealing the poetic expression of Yi culture towards the universe and humanity.
