Abstract:
Culture is the web of meaning woven by human beings themselves, and the relationships among people that generate the web of meaning actually constitute the social and economic behaviors embedded in it. Then, the economic behavior accompanied by the Torch Festival is also embedded in the social relations of Liangshan area. Therefore, the metaphorical dimension of the music culture of the Torch Festival provides the premise for the interaction between participants within and outside the ethnic group. The generation and continuation of the interactive ritual chain, as well as the cyclic repetition of the economic cycle related to the ritual, consolidated the cultural pattern of the cultural holders of the Nuosu, produced a meaning beyond the interactive relationship, and formed a new round of ritual cognition pattern and behavior. Finally, the music culture of the Torch Festival ceremony, the interactive ritual chain, the cultural beliefs of the Nuosu and the economic cycle implied by the flow of material resources were promoted. From this reflection, the study of music anthropology (ethnomusicology) must be analyzed from a multidisciplinary perspective, in order to get the deep logic behind the musical representation.
