Social Networks as Sociotechnical Learning Environments: Implications for Natural Science's Teachers Education

The use of social media as a learning environment for teacher training was studied. The study was carried out over two years with natural sciences teachers in training that taught in elementary, high school, and university. The mechanisms of social interaction, the topics used, their comprehension, and the incidences in the social dynamics of learning were studied. Findings revealed that digital, pedagogical, and teaching skills could advanced through social media use in their training process promoting an advance in their digital competences for teaching advances from Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to Technologies for Learning and Knowledge TLK, and Technologies for Empowerment and Participation TEP.
