Abstract:

The research titled “School pathways of students from rural secondary schools in Tinogasta, Catamarca. Educational and socio-familial ethnographic study” has the general objective of analyzing the school pathways of students who attend a secondary school in a rural context. To achieve this, school organization, pedagogical and didactic factors and social conditions are taken into account. In relation to the methodology, the research is framed within the hermeneutic-interpretive paradigm. The approach is qualitative and uses ethnography, carrying out participant observation, interviews and documentary analysis in the period between 2020 and 2022. The fieldwork began in the context selected by visiting and staying at school and in the small rural place where the school is located and the study population lives. In that sense, everything observed was recorded in the field diary and on observation sheets. Suddenly, the research stopped due to the pandemic caused by Covid-19. Due to this and the need to continue the research, it was decided to use digital ethnography. The corresponding authorization is requested to participate in the WhatsApp groups where students and teachers and leaders and senior administrators participated. Thus, it was possible to continue observing the pedagogic and didactic factors, the social conditions and the documentary analysis of the regulations that arrived as a consequence of the pandemic and non-face-to-face classes. As a result of this, new strategies of analysis were thought of and new categories emerged. The relevance of the research lies in the deep knowledge of the school experience of students who attend a rural secondary school through a holistic study that includes different factors and conditions.
