Abstract:

Change is a fundamental aspect of our existence. Whether it is human culture, civilization, technology, or physiology everything is bound together by this law of nature. One of the uniqueness of the human species is to adapt with these changes and acquire the changes for their strengths. The rapid development of science and technology in the 21st century has not only changed the lifestyle of the people of the modern era but it also even influenced the ideologies, belief systems, acquisition of knowledge and research methodologies of various disciplines as well. The present study focuses on the assessment of these transformative factors in ethnographic fieldwork methodologies in northeast India focusing on how Anthropologists of this region of India have been adapting to the evolving dynamics of the contemporary time. This study employs a comprehensive approach by combining surveys, semi-structured interviews, and case studies utilizing the snowball sampling method; it explores the adaptive strategies of researchers in Northeast India. The research study examines the importance of adapting new innovative approaches in ethnographic research methods to enhance the depth and accuracy of research. It also focuses on the synergies between technology and ethnographic research methods emphasizing the challenges as well as opportunities faced by the researcher in contemporary times. In addition, this research also underscores how technology can contribute to amplifying the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data, creating a holistic framework for field methodologies.
