Abstract:
Ethnographic works originated in the classical period, such as Tacitus's Germania. European colonization of global world and her racist ideas continue to partially influence ethnographic writing today. This article compares the ethnographic writings on the 4 different African regions in 7 languages of Italian, German, Portuguese, Spanish, French, Japanese, and English from six aspects:
(1) Africa and China were subjected to colonial oppression, why the anthropological disciplines in both countries were subordinate to sociology, ethnology, history, and political science;
(2) Why development and economic topics are major issues of ethnographic writings;
(3) Revolutionary aesthetics of poetic-ethnographic writings in French and English West Africa;
(4) Interdisciplinary ethnographic writing with African characteristic of both poetry and film elements;
(5) Beyond the Heart of Darkness writings and African Nobel Literature Prize writings analysis;
(6) The political ethnography that reflects the elections of democratic movements of the African continent and opens up the electoral debate comes from the works of the French school which related to the democratic transition in West African countries such as Benin;
The purpose of our studies is to discuss how the course designing on African studies in Chinese universities affected by the construction of new anthropology disciplines reflecting the needs of people in African's 4 regions.
