Drawing insights from diverse works in sociology and anthropology, the round table will provide a comprehensive analysis of how tourism affects cultural preservation. The Round table panel will mainly focus on four important objectives. First, the issue of commodification of culture and maintaining cultural integrity while meeting expectations of the tourists by the host communities. Second, the importance of community involvement for the empowerment of local community and sustainable tourism practices will be highlighted as strategies for the preservation and conservation of the local culture. Third, the impact of the tourism as a means of modernization and globalization will be examined in light of cultural flow and tourist gaze on local cultures. Fourth, the role of tourism in reshaping the cultural ecology and influencing local cultural practices will be discussed. In addition to addressing the challenges faced in maintaining cultural integration amid increasing tourism, pressure, the round table discussion aims to identify the best ways in which tourism contributes positively to the preservation of culture. By fostering dialogue among scholars, practitioners and policymakers, the discussion seeks to develop practical recommendations for sustainable tourism practices that will be helpful to protect cultural heritage.
