Abstract:

This RT delves into the challenges and concerns prevalent in global publishing. It analyses crucial aspects for North-South relations within anthropology and the discussion aims to contribute to a more egalitarian and enriched dissemination of anthropological knowledge. It is open to former and current editors and assistant editors of anthropology journals, and authors of anthropological articles. The panel calls for decolonization in anthropological practices, given examples of good practices and addressing issues such as language in publication and review, cultural nuances in argumentation and judgments, the dynamics of "large" and "small" journals, editorial board representation, submission patterns, editorial oligopolies, gatekeepers in the international editorial field, and the potentials and challenges of open access.
