This article examines the connection between nostalgia and consumption, specifically examining discussions surrounding objects of consumption and everyday life displayed in museums. We explore the performative elements of nostalgia and their impact on the social meaning of these objects. Our analysis focuses on the Case of the Ipiranga Museum, particularly its exhibitions on House and Things in São Paulo, Brazil. Museums, serving as centers of nostalgia, foster new discourses and function as cultural laboratories. We investigate the tension between museums as perpetuators of existing paradigms and as cultural technology that can produce new ideas.
