At present, tourism is becoming employed more frequently as a separate method of accomplishing development goals in a number of different countries. It is anticipated that the projection of certain cultural practices of communities will attract tourists, which will assist local residents in maintaining their means of subsistence economically. Nevertheless, these activities have the potential to have a negative impact on the life of the community. Within the context of the Kalbelia community in Rajasthan, India, this study investigates the influence that the Kalbelia dance form has had on their approach to making a living. Additionally, it investigates the impact that the dance has had on the arrangement of families within the community. The unfortunate reality is that tourists frequently engage in verbal and sexual harassment of female dancers. Due to the fact that the dancers are concerned about losing their sole source of income, which is mainly available during the winter season, they have decided not to fight the proposal. In light of this, tourism is the principal source of revenue for the Kalbelia people, despite the fact that it is also one of the primary causes of their exploitation and social marginalisation.
